Many people ask me about the scandal that piqued my interest in genealogy. The short version is that a close relative 'disappeared' when I was 4 years old and I stumbled across some information that proved he was really hiding in plain sight. By choice.
I located another not-so-distant relative through ancestry.com (an entire branch I had no idea existed!) and uncovered more skeletons and more scandal!
An AncestryDNA test revealed that 99% of my genetic makeup originates from the British Isles - England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.
Enjoy!
Great blog MT! It's especially exciting to see a 20-something-year-old person getting involved in the fun world of genealogy and family history! Hurray for you! I was a 30-something-year-old when I began.
ReplyDeleteI see that you've joined the Blogging for Ancestors group. Awesome! If you'd like to join another helpful and awesome genealogy blog group, may I suggest GeneaBloggers? Have you heard of it? Here's the link ~ http://www.geneabloggers.com/ I started my genealogy blog almost 7 months ago and it's been great to be a part of the GeneaBloggers community.
Hello! Thank you! I have been really enjoying learning about my family history. I have certain friends my age who also think it is interesting (and many others who think it's boring!).
DeleteGeneaBloggers is a wonderful suggestion, I will check it out :) I think I follow them on twitter, but wasn't aware there was something to join!
I very much enjoyed reading through your blog. You've done a lot with it in such a short time. Thanks for visiting mine!
Yay another 20 something year old genealogist! There's not many of us out there!
ReplyDeleteNeat! Thanks for stopping by! In real life the only other 20 something interested in genealogy that I know is my cousin, so I'm always excited to meet new friends!
